Filmmaker Buchi Babu Sana has revealed an interesting casting change in the upcoming Ram Charan-starrer “Peddi,” stating that actress Khushi Kapoor was initially considered for the role of Achiyamma before it eventually went to her sister Janhvi Kapoor. Speaking during promotional interviews ahead of the film’s scheduled release on June 4, the director explained that he had first narrated the role to Khushi Kapoor.
However, after meeting her in person, he felt she appeared too young for the character and decided to reconsider the casting choice. He added that while making the decision, he was conscious of the sensitivity involved in discussing such changes within the same family. Buchi Babu Sana noted that the role of Achiyamma was always envisioned with a specific screen presence in mind, which he felt aligned more closely with Janhvi Kapoor.
He stated that even while narrating the story to other actors, he had mentally visualised Janhvi in the part, which ultimately influenced his final decision to cast her instead of her younger sister. The director also acknowledged the awkwardness of rejecting one sibling while offering the role to another. He mentioned that he directly communicated his decision to Khushi Kapoor and then proceeded to brief Janhvi Kapoor about the casting choice, ensuring transparency in the process.

According to him, such decisions, while difficult on a personal level, are often necessary in filmmaking when a director has a specific vision for a character. “Peddi” is a sports action drama written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, marking his second directorial venture after the 2021 film “Uppena.” The film stars Ram Charan in the lead role, with Janhvi Kapoor playing Achiyamma.
The cast also includes Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Divyenndu in key roles. Produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, with co-production from Ishan Saksena under IVY Entertainment, the film is presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. It is positioned as a major pan-Indian release, with expectations built around its combination of star power and sports-action storytelling.
