Maharashtra BJP MLC Chitra Wagh on Thursday demanded a swift ban on actor Ajaz Khan’s web series ‘House Arrest’, alleging that it promotes obscene content and poses a serious threat to societal values, especially among children.
Wagh raised concerns over the show’s availability on the Ullu app, claiming that clips are now circulating widely on social media. “Ajaz Khan, who calls himself an actor, has created a show that is the epitome of obscenity. Its content is vulgar, shameful, and easily accessible to children via mobile phones,” she said.
Calling the series a “perverse attack” on the minds of the next generation, Wagh urged Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw to take immediate action. “In the name of freedom of expression, we cannot allow a free hand to promote obscenity. Shows like ‘House Arrest’ insult our culture and degrade moral standards,” she stated.

The legislator further demanded a complete ban on all mobile applications that create or distribute such content, stating that urgent regulatory steps are essential to preserve the cultural and psychological well-being of society.
“This is not entertainment—it is a threat to our future. We must act now to prevent further harm,” Wagh asserted.
Her remarks add to the ongoing national debate around the limits of creative freedom on digital platforms, particularly apps like Ullu that host bold or adult-themed content. While streaming services often cite artistic liberty and viewer discretion, critics like Wagh argue for tighter content regulation to safeguard societal values.
As the controversy builds, the response from the Union Ministry and streaming platforms remains to be seen.
