Comedian and television presenter Cyrus Broacha has criticised filmmaker Farah Khan’s cook, Dilip Mukhiya, questioning his on-camera personality and describing him as overrated. Dilip has become a familiar face on Farah’s YouTube channel, where he accompanies the filmmaker during visits to celebrity homes and features in cooking and lifestyle vlogs. His humorous exchanges with Farah have helped him gain popularity among viewers, but Cyrus recently expressed doubts about the authenticity of his on-screen behaviour.
Cyrus shared his views during a recent episode of his podcast, Cyrus Says, featuring comedian and actor Shantanu Anam. Speaking about Dilip’s appearances in Farah’s videos, Cyrus said he found him irritating and suggested that his humour appeared increasingly scripted. He also questioned whether Dilip was expressing himself naturally or delivering lines prepared for him. Cyrus said he had initially found Dilip entertaining but felt that his performances had changed over time, adding that he believed the cook’s popularity was greater than his appeal warranted.
Shantanu, however, disagreed with Cyrus’s assessment and defended Dilip during the conversation. He pointed out that Dilip was widely liked by viewers and described him as lovable and sweet. The contrasting opinions created a humorous exchange on the podcast, with Cyrus continuing to express his reservations about Dilip’s screen presence while Shantanu maintained that the cook’s personality was a major reason behind his popularity.

Farah Khan also responded to Cyrus’s remarks with a cheeky comeback on social media. Rather than taking the criticism seriously, the filmmaker suggested that she could replace Dilip with Cyrus himself. Her response turned the criticism into a lighthearted exchange, prompting Cyrus to play along. He replied in Hindi, “Kal se aau,” meaning “Shall I come from tomorrow?”, adding another humorous twist to the conversation.
Dilip’s popularity has grown significantly since he began appearing regularly in Farah’s YouTube videos. His candid conversations with the filmmaker and interactions with celebrities have become a recurring feature of the channel. Farah has also spoken publicly about how the success of her YouTube ventures has improved his financial circumstances, helping him clear debts and work towards building a house in his hometown in Bihar. She has additionally discussed supporting his children’s education and helping one of his sons pursue culinary training.
The exchange has brought renewed attention to Dilip’s growing public profile and the role he plays in Farah’s online content. While Cyrus questioned whether the cook’s humour remained spontaneous, Shantanu defended his appeal, and Farah responded with humour rather than confrontation. The conversation highlights the different reactions that social media personalities can attract as their popularity grows, with audiences continuing to debate whether their on-screen personas reflect their natural behaviour or are shaped by the demands of online entertainment.
