Troubles within the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) have intensified as actors Ansiba Hassan and Shwetha Menon take separate steps amid ongoing disputes surrounding the organisation. Ansiba has moved court seeking legal action against actor Lakshmi Priya and others over allegedly defamatory social media videos, while Shwetha has reportedly decided not to resign as AMMA president and will continue in the position.
Ansiba filed a petition before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Ernakulam, seeking directions to the police to register an FIR based on a complaint she had earlier submitted. The actor has named Lakshmi Priya and two representatives of an online media outlet in connection with the case. She alleged that videos circulated on social media were intended to damage her reputation and subject her to public humiliation.
In her petition, Ansiba claimed that the videos contained false and sexually coloured allegations against her. She alleged that the content was intended to outrage her modesty, harass her and tarnish her public image. According to the actor, the circulation of such videos caused serious damage to her reputation and required immediate legal action against those allegedly responsible for creating and spreading the content.

Ansiba also told the court that she had earlier approached the Palarivattom police station and filed a complaint regarding the videos. However, she claimed that police officials failed to take the necessary action based on her complaint, prompting her to seek the intervention of the court. After considering her petition, the court directed the police to submit an explanation regarding the matter on Thursday, July 9.
Meanwhile, Shwetha Menon has reportedly decided to continue as president of AMMA despite earlier indications that she could step down from the position. The actor is said to be fighting back against what she has described as a pre-planned agenda aimed at hijacking the organisation. Her decision marks a change from reports suggesting that she was considering resigning amid the growing internal disputes.
The latest developments have added to the tensions surrounding AMMA, which has faced several controversies and internal disagreements in recent weeks. With Ansiba pursuing legal action over alleged defamatory content and Shwetha choosing to remain as president, the dispute is expected to continue. Further clarity is likely after the police submit their explanation to the court on July 9.
