A special screening of ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ in Delhi on April 15 left an emotional impact on early viewers — including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who praised the film for its powerful portrayal of a forgotten chapter in India’s freedom struggle. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film stars Akshay Kumar as late advocate C. Sankaran Nair, with R Madhavan and Ananya Panday in key roles.
Set against the harrowing aftermath of the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre, ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ is positioned as a spiritual successor to Akshay’s 2019 hit Kesari. The early reactions suggest the film could become a significant milestone in Indian historical cinema.
In a heartfelt video shared by ANI, CM Rekha Gupta said, “It’s a marvellous movie. Even though I watched only a part, I want to see it fully again. The way it depicts the bloodshed of that Baisakhi in Jallianwala Bagh gives you goosebumps.” Visibly moved, she added, “Crores of people laid down their lives for our independence, and many vanished from the pages of history. Now that we breathe in a free nation, it is our duty to live for the country and do something meaningful for it.”

Another early reviewer, lawyer and BJP politician Charu Pragya, tweeted: “Halfway through the screening of #KesariChapter2 and I didn’t even blink in the first half! INCREDIBLE! Take a bow @akshaykumar. Your finest yet!”
Despite glowing feedback from early screenings, the film is off to a slow commercial start. As per a report by The Times of India, advance ticket sales across major multiplex chains stood at just 2,875 a day before release — a modest figure for a big-budget release.
‘Kesari Chapter 2’ hits theatres nationwide on April 18.
