Tom Holland is swinging back into action as Spider-Man in the first teaser for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, hinting at a darker, more introspective chapter for the iconic superhero. The film is set to hit cinemas on 31 July and marks Holland’s latest outing in Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man franchise.
The teaser shows Holland as Spider-Man web-slinging between towering buildings while rescuing a person in peril. A voiceover emphasizes the word “rebirth,” suggesting a major shift in Peter Parker’s journey. Early footage presents a moody, slow-motion aesthetic, contrasting with the lighter tones of Holland’s previous Spider-Man films, according to Variety.
Sony Pictures is rolling out the promotional campaign gradually, with Holland revealing on Instagram that the official trailer will drop on Wednesday. Ahead of that, short snippets of the first-look footage have been circulating via fan accounts worldwide, generating excitement among Marvel enthusiasts.

Brand New Day represents a significant creative shift for the franchise. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, best known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, this is Holland’s first Spider-Man film not helmed by Jon Watts, who directed the prior trilogy. The movie also marks Holland’s first return as Spider-Man since the blockbuster success of Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, which grossed over USD 1.9 billion worldwide and united three generations of the character.
The film introduces a refreshed status quo for Peter Parker, including a new suit for Holland’s fourth solo Spider-Man film and his seventh appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Filming wrapped in December, with Cretton praising Holland for his “kind, generous leadership on and off screen,” fearless performances, and tireless work ethic.
Cretton also expressed gratitude to the cast and crew, calling the project “the biggest, most rewarding film” he has been part of. Early reactions to the teaser suggest that the franchise is poised to explore a more mature, reflective version of Spider-Man while maintaining the thrilling action sequences fans expect.
