Get ready for a sweeping dose of nostalgia, romance, and Austen-era drama — Joe Wright’s iconic 2005 film Pride & Prejudice is returning to the big screen in India on July 25, just in time to mark its 20th anniversary!
Starring Keira Knightley as the fiercely intelligent Elizabeth Bennet and Matthew Macfadyen as the brooding Mr Darcy, the re-release is being brought to Indian audiences by PVR INOX in collaboration with United International Pictures (UIP).
Based on Jane Austen’s beloved 1813 novel, the film captured hearts around the globe with its lush visuals, emotionally charged score, and unforgettable chemistry between its leads. Set in early 19th-century England, the story follows Elizabeth and Darcy as they navigate societal pressures, personal pride, and deep-seated prejudices — only to discover love in the most unexpected way.

The film was a critical and commercial hit upon release, earning four Academy Award nominations, including Best Actress for Knightley, and gaining cult classic status over the years. Its star-studded ensemble includes Donald Sutherland, Rosamund Pike, Carey Mulligan, Jena Malone, Judi Dench, and Rupert Friend.
Following a successful $5 million re-release in U.S. theatres earlier this year, Indian fans now get their chance to relive the cinematic magic in theatres once more.
“This film holds a special place in the hearts of so many,” said Niharika Bijli, Lead Strategist at PVR INOX. “Bringing it back to the big screen is our way of celebrating its legacy with Indian audiences.”
Whether you’re a die-hard Austenite or a newcomer to the world of Elizabeth and Darcy, this is your chance to fall in love all over again — in theatres, where it belongs.
