Actress Triptii Dimri has opened up about dealing with public criticism and the emotional toll it can take, saying that while she tries to remain strong, being questioned about her intentions “hurts” the most. The Maa Behen star spoke candidly in a recent interview, reflecting on how women in the film industry are often judged regardless of their choices or actions.
Triptii said that she understands people will always have opinions, but it becomes difficult when assumptions are made about her character or intent. She explained that while she is able to ignore criticism on some days, there are moments when it does affect her deeply. According to her, the most painful part is when people judge what she meant to do, rather than her actual work or performance.
The actress also shared how she copes with negativity, saying she tries to channel such experiences into her acting. Triptii noted that criticism, even when hurtful, often becomes a source of emotional expression in her performances. She added that she makes a conscious effort to put in her “200%” into every role and ensures she remains confident and comfortable with her choices.

Highlighting the broader issue of gender-based scrutiny, Triptii remarked that women are judged in every situation, regardless of what they do. She emphasised the importance of focusing on one’s work and maintaining honesty in professional and personal decisions. The actress also said she surrounds herself with supportive people who help her stay grounded amid public attention.
Triptii further reflected on the backlash she faced following the success of Animal, stating that the criticism felt “unfair” and impacted her more than she initially admitted. She noted that female actors are often judged more harshly than their male counterparts, adding that such selective scrutiny is something she finds deeply inequitable in the industry.
The actress will next be seen in Maa Behen, a women-led dark comedy directed by Suresh Triveni. The film features Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri and Dharna Durga as an unconventional mother-daughter trio whose lives spiral into chaos after an unexpected incident forces them into a series of comedic and unusual situations.
