Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan firmly ruled out the possibility of donning the iconic tuxedo as the next James Bond during a BBC News India interview in London, where he was unveiling a bronze statue alongside his DDLJ co-star Kajol. Responding to speculation about succeeding Daniel Craig, who bowed out after No Time To Die in 2021, Khan quipped that he lacks the signature British accent and aversion to Bond's preferred "shaken, not stirred" martini, effectively dousing fan fantasies of a desi 007.
The 59-year-old actor, fresh off action-heavy roles in recent hits like Pathaan and Jawan, clarified that his foray into high-octane sequences came late in his career, largely because early romantic leads opposite Kajol didn't lend themselves to stunts. "I was always wanting to do an action film, but then Kajol was in my life, and you can't do action films when Kajol is acting opposite you," Khan joked, prompting playful pushback from Kajol, who reminded him of his extensive filmography beyond their collaborations.
Khan acknowledged enjoying his action phase but humbly distanced himself from the suave superspy mantle, name-dropping Sean Connery as a definitive Bond while admitting, "I don't know James Bond." The light-hearted exchange highlighted his self-deprecating charm, contrasting with ongoing Hollywood casting buzz around names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Callum Turner for the franchise's uncertain future under Amazon MGM Studios.

The statue unveiling celebrated the enduring legacy of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Khan and Kajol's 1995 blockbuster that redefined Indian romance cinema and continues its theatrical run after 30 years. Khan's London visit aligns with his global promotional trail for upcoming projects, including the action-drama King, underscoring his transition from romantic hero to versatile megastar while staying true to his roots.
