As preparations gather pace for the 2026 edition of the Chetak Screen Awards scheduled to be held in Mumbai on April 5, fans are revisiting some of the most memorable moments from previous ceremonies. One such highlight dates back to the 2017 awards, when actress Deepika Padukone shared the stage with filmmaker and host Karan Johar for a light-hearted conversation segment titled “Khatiya With Karan". The playful interaction between the two drew laughter and applause from the audience, becoming one of the standout moments of that year’s ceremony.
Deepika Padukone has been a frequent presence at the awards over the years and has received multiple honours at the event. During the 2017 ceremony, the actor won the Best Style Icon award, recognising her influence in fashion and public appearances. The award was presented by actress Bipasha Basu, who praised Deepika’s presence and personality while announcing the winner. Basu described the actor as stunning, vivacious, and stylish, drawing cheers from the audience as Deepika walked on stage to accept the award.
In her acceptance speech, Deepika expressed gratitude to the many professionals who contribute behind the scenes in filmmaking. While acknowledging the style recognition, she emphasised the collective effort involved in creating characters on screen. She thanked the directors, producers, stylists, technicians, and crew members she had worked with over the years, noting that their contributions help actors present their best performances and public appearances.

Soon after her speech, Karan Johar invited Deepika to remain on stage and join him for the special conversation segment. During the interaction, Johar asked the actor about her childhood experiences and interests beyond acting. Deepika, who previously competed in badminton at the national level, spoke about the traditional games she enjoyed playing during her school days, including hopscotch, gilli danda, and kho kho.
The conversation continued with a series of humorous and casual questions from Johar, which kept the audience entertained. At one point, he asked Deepika if she had ever skipped taking a bath, prompting the actor to quickly respond that she never had. The exchange triggered laughter in the auditorium and reflected the relaxed atmosphere of the segment, which aimed to showcase celebrities in a candid and relatable manner.
Karan also asked Deepika about her love for street food, particularly golgappas, a popular snack across India. The actor admitted that she enjoys visiting chaat stalls and often stands in line like other customers to order the dish. She added that she usually asks the vendor for extra paneer while eating the snack. The discussion later shifted to cooking, where Deepika joked that veteran actress Rekha would likely know the exact quantity of rice required to prepare khichdi for four people, bringing the conversation to an amusing close.
