Actor Mrunal Thakur has come out in support of Katrina Kaif and Kriti Sanon after both actors faced online trolling over their personal choices and public appearances. Speaking while promoting her upcoming film Pooja Meri Jaan, Mrunal criticised the tendency to judge women and urged people to respect their decisions while recognising their contributions to the film industry. She said that public scrutiny often overlooks the professional achievements of actors and focuses instead on their personal lives, appearance and clothing.
In an interaction with PTI, Mrunal defended both actors and emphasised their right to make personal choices without facing unnecessary criticism. “It's their life, it's their choice, and everyone has a right to enjoy the phase of their life,” she said. She questioned why people were judging the two actors despite their work and contributions to the entertainment industry and its business. Mrunal also highlighted their commercial presence beyond India, including their business activities in the United Kingdom.
The actor further reflected on the wider issue of public judgement, saying that women have consistently faced scrutiny over their appearance and decisions. “Women are always judged, and when are they not judged? But not just women, even men are judged,” she added. Her remarks came amid renewed discussions about the treatment of female celebrities on social media, where personal milestones, fashion choices and public appearances frequently become subjects of criticism.

Katrina faced body-shaming comments last month after attending the Ambani Ganpati celebrations, with some social media users commenting on her appearance and weight following the birth of her son, Vihaan. She subsequently addressed the criticism at an event for her brand in London, saying she did not want social media narratives to “paralyse” her. Her response brought renewed attention to the scrutiny women experience after major personal milestones, including motherhood.
Kriti, meanwhile, faced criticism over her clothing in a jewellery brand advertisement released around Raksha Bandhan. The advertisement was eventually taken down, and the actor issued a clarification on social media, stating that she had not intended to hurt anyone’s sensibilities. The episode illustrated how commercial campaigns featuring celebrities can also trigger public debate over clothing, cultural expectations and personal expression.
Mrunal is currently associated with Pooja Meri Jaan, which is streaming, and her comments have added to the support expressed for Katrina and Kriti amid the online backlash. By defending their personal choices and highlighting their professional contributions, she called for greater restraint in public commentary about celebrities. Her remarks also drew attention to the broader issue of how actors are judged beyond their work, particularly when their personal lives become subjects of social media discussion.
