Marathi and Bollywood actress Girija Oak Godbole, who recently went viral for her blue saree look during an interview, has strongly condemned the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to create and circulate inappropriate manipulated images of her online. In a heartfelt video message shared on Instagram, she expressed gratitude for the immense love she has received while also addressing the discomfort caused by such vulgar AI edits.
The actress, known for her roles in films like Taare Zameen Par and Jawan, said she has been overwhelmed by the attention over the past few days. “The past few days have been absolute madness—crazy and great in equal parts,” she said. While she acknowledged receiving affection and humor through creative memes, she clarified that some of the AI-generated content had crossed ethical boundaries. “Some of them are sexualised and objectified beyond comfort. And this bothers me,” she remarked.
Girija further expressed concern about the lack of accountability in the digital world. She said that the rise of AI tools has made it easier for people to create fabricated, indecent images without consequences. “This game has no rules,” she said, pointing to the dangers of uncontrolled online behavior. The actress also appealed to those using or sharing such material to think about the consequences of their actions.

As a mother, Oak’s message took a personal turn when she spoke about the impact such images could have on her 12-year-old son. “These obscene images of his mother, he’s going to see them one day… and it scares me,” she shared emotionally, underlining the lasting harm of online exploitation. She urged individuals to exercise empathy, reminding viewers that even those who merely consume such content become part of the problem.
Ending her message on a positive note, Girija thanked her fans for the genuine admiration and visibility that came with the viral moment. She said that despite the distressing side of fame, she hopes the newfound attention motivates more viewers to watch her work across films, plays, and web series. “I hope I keep doing great work and see you all in theatres,” she concluded with optimism.
