Actor Rajat Bedi has revealed an insightful exchange he shared with Aryan Khan, the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, shedding light on Aryan’s thoughts about following in his father’s footsteps as an actor. Speaking in a recent interview with Instant Bollywood, Bedi recalled how Aryan candidly explained his current decision to stay behind the camera, focusing on writing and directing rather than acting. The revelation comes amid the buzz surrounding Aryan’s much-anticipated directorial debut, _The Ba*ds of Bollywood_**, produced under Red Chillies Entertainment.
Bedi, who plays Jaraj Saxena in the upcoming Netflix series, recounted his first meeting with Aryan. “On the very first day, he told me, ‘Sir, I’ve written something and I’m going to direct it.’ I was surprised and said, ‘The whole world is waiting for you to come in front of the camera, and you’re directing?’” Bedi shared. According to him, Aryan responded with humility and self-awareness: “No sir, Papa jahan pohonch chuke hain udhar pohonchne mein comparison aur yeh saari cheezein hai. But ab nahi, main thode wakt ke baad sochunga agar actor banna hai.’ (With the level my father has reached, there will always be comparisons. Not now, but maybe later I’ll think about acting.)”
Aryan Khan, who graduated from the University of Southern California, has long been the subject of public curiosity about his potential acting debut. However, his creative focus has clearly shifted toward filmmaking. His debut project, *The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, marks his transition into direction and writing, exploring the darker and satirical sides of the Hindi film industry. The series stars Lakshya Lalwani as Aasmaan Singh, Bobby Deol as Ajay Talvar, Sahher Bambba as Karishma Talvar, Raghav Juyal as Parvaiz, and Mona Singh as Neeta Singh.

Industry insiders have praised Aryan’s sharp storytelling and distinctive vision, crediting him for carving an independent identity beyond his father’s towering legacy. While speculation about his eventual on-screen debut persists, Aryan’s current trajectory signals a thoughtful approach — prioritising learning the craft and building credibility as a creator first. For now, as Rajat Bedi’s conversation reveals, Aryan Khan remains focused on directing, leaving the possibility of acting open “for a later time”.
