Mahindra & Mahindra reported a strong sales performance in July 2026, with its sport utility vehicle (SUV) segment recording a 20 per cent year-on-year growth as demand for its utility vehicles remained steady. The automaker sold 60,048 SUVs in the domestic market during the month, compared with 49,871 units sold in July 2025, highlighting continued consumer preference for its SUV lineup. The July 2026 sales figures mark another successful month for Mahindra’s passenger vehicle business, although domestic SUV volumes were marginally lower than the previous month. In June 2026, the company had reported domestic SUV sales of 60,393 units.
Despite the slight month-on-month decline, the company maintained its strong momentum and continued to register significant growth compared with the same period last year. Including exports, Mahindra’s total passenger vehicle sales stood at 60,887 units in July 2026. The company’s performance was driven primarily by sustained demand for its SUV portfolio, which includes several popular models across different segments. Mahindra has strengthened its position in India’s competitive SUV market through a combination of new product launches, refreshed models, and increasing consumer interest in feature-rich utility vehicles.
The latest sales numbers come as the Indian automobile industry continues to witness strong demand for SUVs, which have emerged as one of the fastest-growing categories in the passenger vehicle market. Changing consumer preferences, higher demand for larger vehicles, improved road infrastructure, and increased availability of premium features have contributed to the rapid growth of the SUV segment. Mahindra has been among the leading beneficiaries of this trend, with its SUV-focused strategy helping the company expand its market presence. Models such as the Scorpio-N, XUV700, Thar, and other utility vehicles have played a key role in strengthening the brand’s appeal among buyers seeking performance, safety, and premium features.

The company also reported healthy cumulative growth for the financial year 2026-27 so far. Its year-to-date performance showed a 16 per cent increase, reflecting consistent demand for its passenger vehicles despite evolving market conditions. The growth indicates that Mahindra’s product strategy and focus on SUVs continue to resonate with customers. Industry analysts have noted that the SUV segment is expected to remain a major growth driver for automobile manufacturers in India. Automakers are increasingly investing in new SUV platforms, electric vehicle technology, and advanced features to capture a larger share of the expanding market.
Mahindra has also been strengthening its presence in the electric mobility space while continuing to expand its conventional SUV portfolio. The July sales performance reinforces Mahindra’s position as one of India’s leading SUV manufacturers. With consumer demand remaining strong and new products expected to support future growth, the company is aiming to maintain its upward trajectory in the highly competitive passenger vehicle market. The latest figures suggest that SUVs will continue to be central to Mahindra’s growth strategy in the coming months.
