Innovator Ravi Tamta has demonstrated a prototype of a single-seat electric flying vehicle developed through his startup, Hapida Sky Private Limited. Named HAPIDA SKYNeX, the craft uses modified drone technology and is intended to offer personal aerial mobility without relying on conventional aviation fuel.
Tamta, a resident of Kaflikhan village near Jageshwar Dham in Almora district, said the prototype completed a successful test following several years of research and development. Footage shared online showed the craft lifting its pilot into the air, marking an important step in the entrepreneur’s effort to develop a more accessible personal transportation system.
The HAPIDA SKYNeX is designed to operate entirely on electricity, making it a zero-tailpipe-emission alternative to fuel-powered aircraft. Its developer aims to combine individual mobility with sustainable technology while focusing on safety and affordability. However, no independent technical assessment, performance specifications or regulatory approval details were provided in the initial report.

Tamta shared behind-the-scenes footage of the vehicle’s development on Instagram after receiving numerous requests from people interested in viewing the prototype. He said local authorities in Almora were managing demonstrations and media interactions following the test, allowing him to provide further information about the project through social media.
News agency ANI described the prototype as a single-seat, all-electric vehicle that applies modified drone technology to personal aerial travel. Although widely referred to as a “flying car,” the available information primarily shows an electrically powered aerial craft. Details about road capability, battery range, maximum altitude, flight duration and commercial production were not disclosed.
Videos of the demonstration circulated widely across social media and attracted messages praising Tamta’s achievement. Several users from Uttarakhand described the project as inspiring and called it a step towards a new generation of transportation. Further testing and regulatory evaluation would be required before such a vehicle could be considered for regular public or commercial use.
