Sennheiser has introduced its Momentum 5 Wireless headphones in India, bringing upgrades to its premium audio lineup nearly four years after the Momentum 4 arrived in the country in 2022. Priced at Rs 39,990, the new headphones feature active noise cancellation, support for high-quality wireless audio and a claimed battery life of up to 57 hours. They are positioned as an alternative to premium wireless headphones from Sony and Bose, competing in a segment where sound quality, comfort and battery performance are key considerations.
The Momentum 5 Wireless retains the broad design language of its predecessor, with large oval earcups and a headband featuring a fabric finish. The updated exterior gives the headphones a more refined appearance without a complete redesign. The review unit came in Black, while Denim is also available. Sennheiser has announced White, Bronze and Lavender colour options for a later release. The headphones measure 180 x 197 x 47mm and weigh 290 grams, and they do not carry an official water- or dust-resistance rating.
Under the hood, the headphones use 42mm dynamic drivers and support Bluetooth 5.4, adaptive hybrid active noise cancellation and aptX Lossless audio. Multipoint connectivity allows users to connect to more than one compatible device, while Dolby Atmos support adds to the list of features aimed at an immersive listening experience. These specifications place the Momentum 5 Wireless in the premium category, targeting listeners who want advanced wireless features for music, entertainment and everyday use.

Comfort is another important consideration for over-ear headphones intended for long listening sessions. The Momentum 5’s familiar earcup design and fabric-finished headband contribute to its overall look, while the 290-gram weight is a factor buyers may want to consider when comparing it with competing models. Its lack of an IP rating also means users should not assume that it offers certified protection against water or dust.
Battery life is one of the product’s main selling points, with Sennheiser claiming up to 57 hours of use. Actual endurance can vary depending on listening volume, noise-cancellation settings, audio format and other usage conditions. The inclusion of adaptive noise cancellation is intended to adjust noise reduction to the listening environment, while aptX Lossless support caters to users with compatible devices and audio sources seeking higher-quality wireless playback.
At Rs 39,990, the Sennheiser Momentum 5 Wireless faces strong competition in the premium headphone market. Its combination of long claimed battery life, adaptive noise cancellation, multipoint connectivity and advanced audio support gives it a substantial feature set, while the familiar design may appeal to existing Momentum users. The final buying decision will depend on how its sound quality, noise cancellation, comfort and overall performance compare with similarly priced alternatives.
