Google is gearing up to unveil the Pixel Watch 4 at its Made by Google event on August 20, and leaks suggest it’s set to redefine wearable health tech with a groundbreaking Breathing Emergencies feature. According to a report from Android Headlines, the smartwatch will continuously monitor blood oxygen levels using an advanced SpO2 sensor, alerting users to dangerously low oxygen levels that could signal breathing emergencies.
This cutting-edge feature builds on Google’s Loss of Pulse Detection, introduced last year, which uses a heart rate sensor to detect cardiac emergencies and automatically contacts emergency services. The Pixel Watch 4 takes personal safety further by adding Emergency Satellite Communications, allowing users to reach emergency services even without cellular or Wi-Fi coverage—a potential lifesaver in remote areas.

The Pixel Watch 4 will also retain fan-favorite safety features like Emergency SOS, Crash Detection, and Fall Detection, ensuring comprehensive protection. Hardware-wise, expect the same powerful Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor as its predecessors, with options for 41mm and 45mm sizes, both supporting Bluetooth and LTE connectivity. While pricing details remain under wraps, the watch is poised to compete with top-tier smartwatches like the Apple Watch, especially with its enhanced health and safety tools
