A stunning new report from Philips has revealed that 76% of Indian healthcare professionals (HCPs) are buzzing with optimism about artificial intelligence (AI) revolutionizing patient care. The 10th annual Future Health Index (FHI) 2025, released today, shows AI emerging as a powerhouse in tackling India’s soaring healthcare demands and chronic workforce shortages.
Based on insights from over 1,900 HCPs and 16,000 patients across 16 countries, the India findings highlight a growing trust in AI to transform healthcare delivery. From public hospitals to private clinics, doctors see AI as more than just a tool for efficiency—it’s a lifeline for better clinical outcomes, wider access to care, and easing the strain on overworked staff.
Bharath Sesha, Managing Director of Philips Indian Subcontinent, called the findings a watershed moment. “India is at a turning point in healthcare,” he declared. “AI is no longer just about streamlining tasks—it’s about empowering doctors and saving lives through early interventions. With over 80% of HCPs believing AI can enable life-saving actions, this trust is key to scaling up technology to deliver better care for millions.”

The report paints an exciting picture: AI is empowering less experienced staff through training, especially in underserved areas, and driving clinical learning and skill-building. It’s streamlining patient triage, cutting wait times, boosting face-to-face patient interactions, and automating repetitive tasks to reduce administrative burdens. Most strikingly, AI is seen as a catalyst for consistent patient examinations, faster procedures, and easier access to clinical research.
But it’s not all smooth sailing. HCPs are calling for clear guidelines on AI’s use, clarity on legal liabilities, and stronger data security. A whopping 67% warn that data bias in AI could deepen healthcare disparities if left unchecked.
As India charges toward a digital health future, the FHI 2025 report signals a bold opportunity. With HCPs already shaping AI tools, the stage is set for India to lead the world in blending technology and trust for a healthier, fairer tomorrow. Will AI deliver on its promise, or will challenges hold it back? The revolution is underway.
