Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Smriti Mandhana was at her aggressive best in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 final, smashing a 41-ball 87 to guide her team to a six-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals. RCB successfully chased down a target of 204 in 19.4 overs, securing their second WPL title after their maiden triumph in 2024. Mandhana finished the season as the highest run-scorer, earning the prestigious Orange Cap.
The 29-year-old ended the season with 377 runs from nine innings, averaging 53.86 with a strike rate of 150. Her highest score of the league stage was 96 off 61 balls against the Delhi Capitals, while her 87-run knock in the final proved decisive in sealing RCB’s championship. Mandhana’s performance underscored her ability to deliver under pressure and in high-stakes situations.
After the final, RCB coach Malolan Rangarajan revealed that Mandhana had been battling a fever of 103°F the night before the match. “Smriti, thank you so much for being such a wonderful captain and turning up for this game without any complaints. She was seriously unwell, but nobody in the team knew,” Rangarajan said during his dressing-room speech.

Rangarajan highlighted Mandhana’s extraordinary work ethic and professionalism. “When I spoke to her on the afternoon of the match, she said, ‘Nahi, Malo, koi problem nahi,’ and she showed up ready to lead. The way she batted was flawless, classy, and completely controlled. Her last training session on Wednesday was one of the best I’ve seen from her,” he added.
Throughout the season, Mandhana consistently delivered strong performances for RCB. She combined elegance with aggressive strokeplay, timing the ball perfectly and choosing her moments to attack.
