Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani has delivered a blunt assessment of spinner Kuldeep Yadav’s recent performances, urging the left-arm wrist spinner to raise his standards as the team continues its struggle in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The comments came after another disappointing outing for the franchise, which has been battling inconsistency in both batting and bowling departments.
According to Badani, the team’s inability to control key phases of the game has repeatedly put them under pressure, with even experienced players failing to deliver at expected levels. Kuldeep, who has been retained as a key spinner for the season, came under particular focus after an ineffective spell in the latest match against Chennai Super Kings, where DC struggled to contain runs on a gripping surface.
Badani acknowledged Kuldeep’s importance to the side but did not shy away from pointing out his dip in form. “We would ideally want Kuldeep to be better than this,” the coach said, stressing that the team management still has full confidence in his abilities but expects improved consistency moving forward as the playoff race intensifies.

The Delhi Capitals’ recent defeat highlighted broader concerns, including a top-order collapse and underwhelming spin bowling impact. The team’s inability to capitalise on favourable conditions has been a recurring issue this season, forcing the coaching staff to reassess tactical decisions and individual roles within the squad.
Despite the criticism, the coaching staff has maintained a supportive stance toward Kuldeep Yadav, indicating that he remains a crucial part of their plans. The management believes that a return to form from key players like Kuldeep will be essential if the franchise is to revive its IPL 2026 campaign and stay in contention for the playoffs.
As pressure mounts on Delhi Capitals following a series of poor results, the focus now shifts to correcting execution errors and rebuilding confidence within the squad. With the tournament approaching its decisive phase, both the coaching staff and players face increasing scrutiny over their ability to respond under pressure.
