Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has revealed that star batter Virat Kohli played a key role in influencing his decision to take up a coaching and mentoring position with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru after retiring from active participation in the Indian Premier League. Karthik said Kohli’s support and conversations encouraged him to stay connected with the franchise in a new role.
Karthik, a veteran of multiple IPL franchises, began his career with the Delhi Daredevils and went on to represent the Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Lions, and Kolkata Knight Riders during his long playing journey. He eventually concluded his playing career in IPL 2024 with RCB, marking the end of a significant chapter in his cricketing life.
Following his retirement as a player, Karthik transitioned into a new role with Royal Challengers Bengaluru as a batting coach and mentor.
