Former India batter and coach Abhishek Nayar has shared an amusing anecdote about Rohit Sharma, recalling an incident from the cricketer's teenage years that he said offered an early glimpse of Rohit's quick thinking. Nayar narrated the story while discussing Rohit's upcoming television show, Family Full House with Rohit Sharma, leaving those present in laughter.

According to Nayar, Rohit was only 17 when he was selected for the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team for the first time. It was a significant occasion for the young batter, with several established players part of the squad. However, when Rohit arrived at the stadium on the morning of the match, he had apparently forgotten to bring his cricket kitbag.

Nayar recalled that when the young Rohit was questioned about the missing kitbag, he immediately offered an explanation. He said Rohit claimed that while travelling by train, someone had pushed him and his kitbag had fallen away. Nayar jokingly described the explanation as a "cooked-up story" and suggested that Rohit's ability to think quickly had been evident from his early days in cricket.

The anecdote prompted laughter among those listening, while Rohit himself denied that he had deliberately tried to be clever. Responding to Nayar's account, Rohit said he had not been trying to "play smart" and had simply told his coach what had happened. Rohit has built an illustrious international career since making his early breakthrough in domestic cricket. Known particularly for his pull shot, the right-handed batter has also earned recognition for his range of strokes and batting instincts.
