A former Pakistan cricketer has predicted that the country could face uncomfortable questions from the global cricket community over the quality and preparation of its pitches, warning that concerns are already building among players and experts. The ex-star suggested that Pakistan’s approach may prompt critics to ask bluntly, “Why are you drowning us with you,” a remark pointing to excessively lifeless or over-prepared playing surfaces.
The comments come amid growing debate around pitch conditions in international cricket, where balance between bat and ball has become a recurring issue. According to the former player, pitches that heavily favour one discipline risk diminishing the quality of contests and drawing criticism from visiting teams, broadcasters and fans alike.
He argued that if matches become one-sided or tedious due to extreme conditions, Pakistan’s reputation as a host nation could suffer. Visiting teams, he said, may feel disadvantaged or frustrated, leading to broader questions about fairness, competitiveness and adherence to global standards expected by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The ex-cricketer also cautioned that such issues rarely remain confined to technical discussions. In today’s media-driven environment, pitch controversies can quickly escalate into diplomatic and administrative concerns, especially when major tournaments or high-profile bilateral series are involved.
Pakistan has in recent years worked to re-establish itself as a regular host of international cricket after a long hiatus, investing heavily in stadium upgrades and security arrangements. Analysts note that maintaining credibility as a host now also requires producing pitches that offer competitive, entertaining cricket and meet international expectations.
As scrutiny intensifies, experts say Pakistan’s cricket authorities may need to reassess pitch preparation strategies to avoid negative attention. With the cricketing world increasingly vocal about playing conditions, the warning serves as a reminder that on-field surfaces can have off-field consequences for a nation’s standing in the sport.
