Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan will undertake a two-day visit to Uttarakhand from Wednesday, during which he will interact with Indian Forest Service probationers and address trainee civil servants at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie. The Vice-President will be the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony of Phase-II of the IAS Professional Course for the 2024 batch on Thursday, according to an official statement.
On the first day of his visit, Radhakrishnan will travel to the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy in Dehradun, where he will address and interact with Indian Forest Service probationers of the 2025-27 batch. During his visit to LBSNAA in Mussoorie, he will also pay floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. His interactions are expected to focus on the responsibilities of public servants and the role of effective administration.
The Vice-President has recently stressed the importance of continuous learning and adaptability while addressing students at the 11th convocation of Central University of Tamil Nadu in Thiruvarur. He urged graduates to become creators and innovators rather than merely consumers and imitators of knowledge. Radhakrishnan also underlined the importance of developing leadership qualities and remaining adaptable as technology and society continue to change.

Radhakrishnan has also spoken about reforms aimed at maintaining integrity in public examinations. Referring to the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill passed by Parliament, he stressed that preventing unfair practices and protecting students' interests were important for maintaining confidence in the examination system. Recalling his tenure as Governor of Jharkhand, he said a similar legislation had been passed by the state government during his tenure and was signed by him.
At a separate event marking the Ruby and Silver Jubilee valedictory celebrations of SASTRA deemed university in Thanjavur, the Vice-President linked examination reforms with efforts to create a fair and transparent system for young people. He also praised the National Education Policy 2020, describing it as an important framework for educational development from school through higher education. He expressed confidence that India's higher education Gross Enrolment Ratio could rise from around 30 per cent to the targeted 50 per cent by 2035.
Radhakrishnan also highlighted the importance of developing domestic technological capabilities alongside economic growth. He noted that government measures were aimed at building a self-reliant ecosystem while strengthening manufacturing and services. His Uttarakhand visit will bring these broader themes of learning, innovation, integrity and public service into direct interaction with trainee administrators and forest officers preparing for careers in government.
