Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the recently concluded trade agreement will significantly strengthen the Make in India initiative and help create new employment opportunities across key sectors of the economy. Addressing industry leaders and policymakers, the Prime Minister described the pact as a step toward boosting domestic manufacturing, exports and global competitiveness.
PM Modi said the agreement is designed to encourage value addition within India by improving market access, enhancing supply-chain integration and attracting investment into priority sectors such as manufacturing, electronics, pharmaceuticals and clean energy. He stressed that increased production within the country would translate directly into job creation, particularly for youth and skilled workers.
Highlighting the government’s long-term vision, the Prime Minister noted that Make in India is no longer limited to assembling goods but focuses on building complete ecosystems — from design and innovation to production and exports. He said the trade framework complements ongoing reforms aimed at improving ease of doing business, reducing logistics costs and strengthening industrial infrastructure.

The Prime Minister also underlined that India has approached trade negotiations with a clear focus on protecting national interests. Sensitive sectors, including agriculture and small enterprises, remain safeguarded, while areas with strong growth potential are being opened strategically to global markets. This balanced approach, he said, ensures that economic growth remains inclusive and sustainable.
Industry representatives have welcomed the agreement, saying it provides predictability and clarity for businesses planning long-term investments in India. Economists believe that improved trade ties, combined with domestic policy support, could help India scale up manufacturing and integrate more deeply into global value chains.
Concluding his remarks, PM Modi said the trade agreement reflects India’s confidence as a global economic player. He asserted that by strengthening Make in India and generating jobs, the deal aligns with the government’s broader goal of building a resilient, self-reliant economy while remaining engaged with international partners.
