Union Home Minister Amit Shah has ordered a relentless pursuit of fugitives involved in terrorism and smuggling, emphasizing enhanced coordination between central and state law enforcement. Speaking at the National Security Strategies conference in New Delhi on Friday, Shah directed agencies to disrupt terror-criminal networks and unearth terror modules by analyzing financial irregularities.
The two-day hybrid conference, attended by around 800 officers, including state DGPs and young police personnel, focused on external threats, narcotics trade, and the misuse of encrypted communication apps. Shah stressed the use of indigenous technology for policing and urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to establish a forum to counter encrypted terror networks. Discussions also covered crowd management, security of uninhabited islands, and terror financing.
Saturday’s agenda will address civil aviation, port security, counter-terrorism, left-wing extremism, and narcotics trafficking countermeasures. Shah’s directives align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2016 mandate to hold annual security conferences, leveraging grassroots officers’ experience and expert insights.
