Prime Minister Narendra Modi has concluded a two-day official visit to Slovakia, where he held high-level talks aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across trade, technology, and energy. The visit was described by both sides as a significant step in deepening India-Slovakia relations, with an emphasis on long-term economic and strategic collaboration.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico expressed appreciation for Modi’s visit and underscored that strong bilateral ties are rooted in mutual respect. In a message shared on social media, Fico thanked the Indian leader and highlighted his government’s commitment to building constructive international partnerships based on shared interests and diplomatic understanding.
During the visit, Modi held discussions with Slovak President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Fico, covering a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, transport, innovation, energy, biofuels, and digital technology. Both sides also explored ways to expand investment flows and enhance people-to-people exchanges, signalling a broader push toward diversified economic engagement.

In his remarks, Modi described the visit as “historic and productive,” stating that the outcomes would contribute to strengthening bilateral ties. He also noted that improved trade relations between India and Slovakia would create opportunities for youth and support innovation-driven growth. The engagement was marked by a focus on expanding cooperation beyond traditional sectors into emerging technologies and sustainable development.
A notable highlight of the visit was Slovakia conferring its highest civilian honour, the Order of the White Double Cross (1st Class), on the Indian Prime Minister. The award marks the 33rd international honour bestowed upon Modi by a foreign nation, reflecting the growing diplomatic recognition of India’s global engagement.
Following the conclusion of his engagements in Bratislava, Modi departed for France to attend the G7 Summit, continuing a packed diplomatic schedule that includes key bilateral meetings with global leaders and participation in multilateral discussions on pressing international issues.
