The visit carries political and developmental significance as it coincides with the second anniversary celebrations of the state government and the Centre’s renewed focus on accelerating infrastructure growth in Odisha. Officials said that projects worth several thousand crores of rupees are likely to be unveiled during the programme, with the state government finalising a list of major initiatives for inauguration.
Among the key projects expected to be announced is the ₹8,300 crore Rameshwar-Paradip Coastal Highway project, recently approved by the Union Cabinet. The highway is expected to strengthen coastal connectivity and enhance trade and economic activity along Odisha’s coastline.
The Prime Minister is also likely to lay the foundation stone for the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri-Paradip Economic Region (BCPPER), a proposed growth corridor aimed at integrating the state’s major urban, industrial and port centres. Designed with support from NITI Aayog, the project envisions more than 80 infrastructure initiatives across sectors such as manufacturing, biotechnology, textiles, chemicals, tourism, education and information technology, along with policy reforms to attract investment and generate employment.
In addition, several national highway projects, including the proposed 111-km Capital Region Ring Road connecting Rameshwar and Tangi, are also expected to be launched during the visit, further strengthening Odisha’s transport infrastructure network and regional connectivity.
