Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated Avaada Group’s ₹1,600-crore solar project in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district and laid the foundation stone for a new 100 MW solar facility in Vadodara, marking a significant step in India’s clean energy transition. The initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable development and achieving an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
The 280 MW Surendranagar project, spanning 1,170 acres in Tavi and Varsani villages, was developed under the Gujarat State Solar Policy with an investment of ₹1,500 crore. It will supply electricity to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL), providing cleaner and more affordable power, particularly for farmers. The project is projected to offset 595,857 tons of CO2 emissions annually and conserve 112 lakh litres of water yearly through robotic module cleaning systems, minimizing its environmental impact.
Additionally, Modi virtually laid the foundation for Avaada’s 100 MW solar project in Vadodara, which involves a ₹400-crore investment across 350 acres. Executed by Avaada GJ Solar, this project is slated for completion by April 2026 and is expected to reduce 212,806 tons of CO2 emissions annually while saving 40 lakh litres of water each year through advanced cleaning technology.

Avaada Group Chairman Vineet Mittal emphasized the company’s mission, stating, “The inauguration by the Prime Minister reinforces our commitment to delivering clean, affordable, and sustainable energy solutions to every Indian.” The conglomerate, led by Mittal, operates across renewable power generation, solar PV manufacturing, green hydrogen, data centers, battery storage, and pumped hydro projects.
These projects bolster Gujarat’s renewable energy infrastructure, aligning with India’s broader goals of reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable growth.
