The Rising People’s Party (RPP) in Nagaland sharply criticized A.K. Mishra, the Centre’s interlocutor for Naga peace talks, accusing him of offering “false hope” and making “fruitless” visits that waste taxpayers’ money. The RPP’s statement follows Mishra’s joint meeting with Naga political groups in Chümoukedima on Thursday, involving factions of the Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) led by N. Kitovi Zhimomi, Neokpao Konyak, and Alezo Venuh. Mishra is also slated to meet the NSCN (K) Niki group during his visit.
The RPP dismissed Mishra’s efforts, stating, “An astute person like him should excuse himself from monthly trips just to excite gullible minds, as neither he nor the Government of India has any intention of resolving the Naga issue.” The party expressed skepticism about the talks, noting that while factions may be enthused, the public remains “merely amused.”
The RPP also targeted former interlocutor R.N. Ravi, alleging he deepened divisions by discarding the 2015 Framework Agreement with NSCN-IM and pushing the 2017 Agreed Position with NNPGs, causing internal rifts. Despite these agreements, the Naga issue remains unresolved, with the NSCN-IM’s demands for a separate flag and constitution stalling progress.

The RPP urged Mishra to halt his visits, arguing they fail to advance the decades-long peace process and only perpetuate public disillusionment.
