The shrine has attracted renewed public attention following the burial of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei there on July 9 after an extended funeral process. Iranian officials estimated that nearly 15 million mourners participated in the ceremonies.

Authorities have emphasized that Thursday's fire was confined to the construction zone and did not affect the shrine's religious activities or key structures.
