The Maharashtra government has authorized a significant recruitment drive to fill 15,631 police and prison constable positions, addressing critical vacancies in the state’s law enforcement and correctional services.
The initiative, detailed in a Government Resolution (GR) issued on Wednesday, aims to strengthen public safety infrastructure by recruiting 12,399 police constables, 234 police constable drivers, 25 bandsmen, 2,393 armed police constables, and 580 prison constables.
To accommodate a broader pool of applicants, the government has relaxed age restrictions, allowing candidates who exceeded the maximum age limit in 2022 and 2023 to apply.
Additionally, the previous cap limiting direct recruitment to 50% of posts has been lifted to meet urgent staffing demands. The recruitment process will be conducted at the divisional level, featuring an OMR-based written examination with fees set at Rs 450 for open category candidates and Rs 350 for reserved categories.
This recruitment drive, covering vacancies from 2024 and anticipated openings in 2025, underscores Maharashtra’s commitment to enhancing its security apparatus through a robust and inclusive hiring process.
