Sardar Aman Khan, a leader of the Joint Awami Action Committee, has appealed for humanitarian assistance from India amid ongoing unrest and alleged shortages of food and medicines in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Khan claimed that Islamabad had imposed an economic blockade following a crackdown on protests and urged New Delhi to help civilians facing worsening conditions. The appeal comes as demonstrations against the Pakistani administration continue across the region.
“We need India’s help. There is a shortage of rations, and we need your help,” Khan was heard saying in a widely circulated video on social media. He alleged that residents were struggling to access essential supplies as security operations against protesters intensified. Khan called on India to send humanitarian assistance and urged authorities to open routes along the Line of Control if the situation deteriorates further.
Addressing a large gathering at the Eidgah Ground in Rawalakot, Khan asked the crowd whether protesters should move towards the Line of Control. Those gathered repeatedly responded in support of the proposal. He also warned that if authorities continued responding to public demands with force, protesters could consider other options, reflecting the growing anger surrounding the ongoing unrest.

The Joint Awami Action Committee leader specifically called for the opening of routes along the Line of Control in the Poonch and Doda sectors. He argued that civilians should have the option to move towards India if conditions became more severe. Khan claimed that the continuing crackdown and restrictions had worsened hardships for people living in the region and created shortages of basic necessities.
The appeal comes amid large-scale protests that have continued in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir since last month. During a major rally at the Eidgah Ground last week, protesters reportedly raised slogans rejecting the region’s association with Pakistan. The demonstrations have focused on the administration’s handling of public demands, while reports of deaths during the unrest have further intensified tensions.
The situation remains tense as protesters continue to press their demands and authorities face growing criticism over their response. Khan’s public appeal to India has added a new dimension to the unrest, particularly because of the sensitive political and security situation surrounding the Line of Control. The claims of shortages and an economic blockade remain central to the protesters’ allegations as developments continue across the region.
