YouTuber Pragya Mishra’s sister Divya Mishra was shot outside the ICICI Bank branch where she worked in Lucknow on Thursday. Divya was allegedly shot by her husband, Manas Vajpayee, who later killed his own sister before taking his own life. Pragya had initially shared a post saying she had received a call informing her that her sister had been shot and was being treated at a hospital.
Pragya, who runs the popular YouTube channel ‘Ulta Chashma’, posted about the incident at around 1:26 pm, before news emerged that Divya had succumbed to her injuries. In the post, she appealed for prayers for her sister. Divya was reportedly taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital after the shooting, but doctors could not save her.
According to police, Manas, a 38-year-old State Bank of India employee, allegedly went to Divya’s workplace and shot her. He then returned to his home, where he shot his 28-year-old sister Shiva, who was reportedly mentally unwell. Police said Manas believed that his sister would have nobody to care for her after his death. He subsequently died by suicide.

Divya and Manas had been married for around 12 years but had reportedly been living separately for more than a year. Divya had filed for divorce last year, according to the information available in the case. The circumstances surrounding their separation and the events that led to the shooting are now part of the police investigation.
Manas also reportedly referred to Divya’s death in a WhatsApp status before his own death. In the status, he accused his wife of being unfaithful and claimed that Pragya Mishra and her husband Bharat were aware of what he alleged. These claims have not been independently established and are being treated as allegations made by Manas.
The incident has left the family facing multiple deaths within a short period. Police are investigating the sequence of events, including the shooting at Divya’s workplace, the killing of Manas’s sister and the subsequent suicide. The motive and other circumstances surrounding the case are expected to become clearer as investigators examine the evidence and statements from people connected to the family.
