Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed profound shock and sorrow following a mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, Canada, that resulted in the deaths of at least 10 people, including the suspected shooter. In a statement on social media platform X, Mr Modi extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery for the injured, reaffirming that India stands in solidarity with the people of Canada during this tragic time.
The shooting occurred on February 10 at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and a nearby residence, where authorities found multiple victims. Law enforcement sources indicated that six people were discovered dead inside the school, two more at a linked residence, and another victim died while being transported to a hospital. The suspect, described in early reports as a female, was found deceased at the school from what appeared to be a self‑inflicted injury.
Canadian officials reported that more than two dozen individuals were also wounded in the attack, with several in serious or life‑threatening condition. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said there was no ongoing threat to the public after the suspect was found dead, and emergency alerts were subsequently cancelled.
