On the eve of presenting her second budget for the National Capital Territory, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday promised a major infrastructure push aimed at accelerating Delhi’s development and promoting a greener, more sustainable city. The Delhi Budget 2026-27, she said, will focus on improving the quality of life for nearly 30 million residents.
Addressing the media, Gupta outlined that the upcoming budget would prioritise robust infrastructure development, upgraded healthcare facilities, better educational opportunities, and initiatives to reduce pollution while enhancing green spaces. “The budget aims to move Delhi towards becoming a city where citizens have access to better healthcare, quality education, robust infrastructure, and a clean and green environment,” she said.
The Chief Minister stressed that the government’s vision of ‘Developed Delhi, Green Delhi’ is not just a slogan but a roadmap for a safer, more prosperous, and inclusive city. She highlighted plans to strengthen student facilities, expand healthcare infrastructure, improve cleanliness, and promote a greener ecosystem across the capital.

Gupta also expressed gratitude to Delhi residents for their continued support, affirming that her administration remains committed to working around the clock to serve citizens. “While we have worked over the past year to change the city’s direction, the upcoming budget will focus on taking concrete steps to improve its overall condition,” she said.
The budget session began with the traditional ‘kheer ceremony,’ symbolising prosperity, good fortune, and public welfare. The event brought together a diverse cross-section of society, including farmers, school students, teachers, doctors, women drivers, and members of the transgender community. Farmers honoured the Chief Minister by presenting her with a traditional turban.
Prominent political figures, including Cabinet Ministers Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravindra Indraj Singh, and Kapil Mishra, along with MLAs and dignitaries, were also present to mark the formal start of the budget proceedings.
