Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) Chief Chirag Paswan has lashed out at the opposition Mahagathbandhan following the NDA’s massive victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Paswan criticized leaders from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress for what he called a “habit” of finding fault with every issue—from electronic voting machines (EVMs) to election officials—instead of reflecting on their poor performance.
“Finding fault with every issue, blaming EVMs, and blaming officials. If they spent as much time on their own assessment as they do on finding fault, then Congress and RJD would likely achieve something better,” Paswan told ANI. He also said that the people of Bihar do not appreciate personal attacks and that such politics had repeatedly cost the Mahagathbandhan at the polls.
Taking a strong stance against recent statements by opposition leaders, Paswan accused them of engaging in "provocative politics." Referring to remarks made by RJD’s Sunil Singh comparing possible unrest in Bihar to protests in Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, Paswan said such comments were irresponsible. “Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi repeatedly says that Gen Z should play their role. This is provocative politics,” Paswan added.

Sunil Singh had earlier warned election officials against alleged manipulation of votes, saying that if the people’s mandate was tampered with, Bihar would witness “scenes like Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.” He also reiterated allegations that RJD candidates were “forcibly defeated” during the 2020 Bihar elections and urged vigilance against similar actions this year.
The sharp exchange of words comes in the backdrop of the NDA’s commanding performance in the Bihar polls, where the coalition secured 202 of the 243 assembly seats—a three-fourths majority. The BJP won 89 seats, Janata Dal (United) claimed 85, while Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) bagged 19. The Mahagathbandhan, led by RJD and Congress, managed only 35 seats in total. The results underscore a decisive mandate for the NDA and leave the opposition struggling to regroup after yet another crushing defeat.
