Bouncer supply agencies in Hyderabad have urged the Telangana government and police to intervene over allegations that Muslim security personnel are being denied work at Dandiya and Navratri events because of their religion. Representatives of several agencies said security workers should be selected on professional standards and not on religious identity.
Agency representatives MD Feroz (Fazal), Sharda Reddy, Prabhakar and Salman alleged that some event organisers had recently stopped hiring Muslim bouncers for Dandiya celebrations and other events. They said thousands of Hindu and Muslim bouncers across Telangana depend on such assignments for their livelihoods and appealed to organisers to treat all workers equally.
The representatives maintained that individual misconduct should be dealt with through legal or disciplinary action rather than being used to exclude an entire community from employment. They argued that security personnel should be assessed based on their conduct, experience and professional ability. They also urged authorities to ensure that workers are not denied opportunities solely because of their religious background.

According to the representatives, the alleged exclusion of Muslim bouncers became more prominent following controversies surrounding Dandiya events in 2024. The issue has previously drawn political attention in Telangana, with Telangana Bajrang Dal convenor Siva Ramulu publicly urging Dandiya organisers not to employ people from other faiths as security personnel and bouncers during Navratri celebrations.
Hyderabad MP and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi had also criticised alleged boycotts of Muslim workers, claiming that some Muslim bouncers and other employees were being excluded under pressure from organisations. He urged police to take action against alleged discrimination and appealed to people across communities to oppose practices that could deepen communal divisions.
The bouncer agencies have now sought intervention from the Telangana government and police, stressing that employment decisions should not be based on religion. The allegations come ahead of Dandiya and Navratri celebrations, when demand for private security personnel typically increases at public events. Authorities have yet to publicly announce any specific action in response to the agencies' allegations.
