In a resounding triumph that has electrified Delhi University's vibrant campus, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student arm of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), clinched a commanding victory in the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) Elections 2025. Securing the prestigious posts of President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary, ABVP's sweep underscores its strong grip on student politics, while the Congress-affiliated National Students' Union of India (NSUI) salvaged the Vice President seat in a hard-fought battle.
The results, declared late Thursday after a meticulously conducted polling process, saw ABVP's Aryan Maan storm to victory as President with an impressive 28,841 votes. Trailing far behind were NSUI's Joslyn Chaudhary with 12,645 votes and the SFI-AISA alliance's candidate with 5,385 votes. An independent NSUI dissident managed 5,522 votes, highlighting internal frictions within the opposition. In a stunning turnaround, NSUI's Rahul Jhansla captured the Vice President position, polling 29,339 votes to edge out ABVP's Govind Tanwar (20,547 votes) and SFI-AISA (4,163 votes). ABVP bounced back emphatically in the Secretary race, where Kunal Chaudhary garnered 23,779 votes against NSUI's 16,177 and SFI-AISA's 9,535. Rounding out the wins, Deepika Jha of ABVP triumphed in the Joint Secretary contest with 21,825 votes, surpassing NSUI's 17,380 and SFI-AISA's 8,425.
At the helm of ABVP's presidential charge was Aryan Maan, a dynamic leader from Bahadurgarh, Haryana. A Hansraj College alumnus now pursuing an MA in Library Science, Maan has been a fixture in student activism, spearheading ABVP initiatives against exorbitant fee hikes and advocating for better campus infrastructure. An enthusiastic football aficionado, Maan infused his campaign with a sporty vigor, rallying peers around a platform centered on holistic student empowerment. His manifesto promised game-changing reforms: subsidized metro passes for daily commuters, campus-wide free Wi-Fi to bridge digital divides, comprehensive accessibility audits for differently-abled students, state-of-the-art upgrades to sports facilities, and targeted financial aid for final-year research scholars. Maan envisions catapulting Delhi University onto the global stage, declaring, "Together, we'll build a DU that's not just an institution, but a beacon of opportunity and excellence."

The elections unfolded against a backdrop of heightened anticipation and stringent oversight. Over 2.75 lakh eligible students across more than 50 constituent colleges exercised their franchise at 52 polling centers equipped with 195 booths and 711 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). The final voter turnout clocked in at 39.45%, a testament to the engaged youth demographic despite the logistical complexities of such a sprawling electoral exercise.
However, the euphoria of victory is tempered by judicial caution. In a firm directive, the Delhi High Court has prohibited any victory processions or celebratory rallies by the winning candidates, aiming to avert potential unrest. The court has instructed the Delhi Police, university administration, and local authorities to enforce robust security protocols, ensuring a peaceful transition and underscoring the commitment to maintaining law and order on campus.
As the dust settles, ABVP's dominance signals a shift in DUSU's power dynamics, with Maan and his team poised to steer the union toward progressive reforms. Yet, with NSUI holding a crucial veto-like position as Vice President, cross-party collaboration will be key to realizing these ambitious goals. For Delhi University's 7 lakh-strong student body, the 2025 DUSU elections herald a new chapter of advocacy, innovation, and unyielding student voice in shaping their academic destiny.
