Cyberabad traffic police launched a stringent weekend enforcement drive, apprehending 457 individuals for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol. The operation resulted in the seizure of 457 vehicles, including 346 two-wheelers, 86 four-wheelers, 20 three-wheelers, and 5 heavy vehicles, highlighting the alarming prevalence of drunk driving in the region.
Breathalyzer tests revealed severe intoxication levels among offenders: 399 recorded Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) between 35–200 mg/100 ml, 34 between 201–300 mg/100 ml, and 24 dangerously high at 301–550 mg/100 ml—nearly 18 times the legal limit of 30 mg/100 ml. From October 20 to 25, courts processed 336 cases, imposing fines on 317 offenders and sentencing 19 to jail, underscoring zero tolerance for repeat violations.
In a separate incident on Sunday, two Sudanese college students escaped unhurt after their car overturned on the JNTU flyover. KPHB police confirmed the youths were heavily intoxicated. A case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing to determine if speeding or mechanical failure contributed to the crash.

The crackdown reflects growing concerns over road safety in Cyberabad, a major IT and residential hub. Authorities have intensified night patrols and random checks at key junctions, urging citizens to use designated drivers or public transport after consuming alcohol.
With festive seasons approaching, traffic police have warned of sustained enforcement. “Drunk driving endangers lives—we will not hesitate to act,” a senior official stated, calling for collective responsibility to prevent accidents and ensure safer roads.
