In a dramatic escalation of tensions within the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of party patriarch Lalu Yadav, has issued a fiery warning, vowing to unleash Lord Krishna’s "Sudarshan Chakra" on anyone who insults his sister, Rohini Acharya. The outburst comes amid swirling speculation triggered by Acharya’s cryptic social media post on X, which has exposed fault lines in the Yadav family and the RJD ahead of crucial elections.
Acharya, who made headlines in 2022 for donating a kidney to her father, sparked a political firestorm with her post: "I have fulfilled my duty and dharma as a daughter and a sister, and I will continue to do so. I have no desire for any position, nor do I have any political ambition. For me, my self-respect is supreme." The post, coupled with her decision to unfollow all RJD leaders—including her brother Tejashwi Yadav, the party’s prominent face—and make her X account private, has fueled rumors of discord within the party.
Earlier, Acharya had publicly criticized Tejashwi’s aide Sanjay Yadav for taking the front seat in the RJD’s campaign van, hinting at deeper grievances. Unconfirmed reports suggest she sought an Assembly poll ticket, only to be rebuffed by the party leadership, a setback that echoes her unsuccessful Lok Sabha bid from Saran last year.
Tej Pratap, a former state minister and current MLA, leapt to his sister’s defense, emphasizing her sacrifice. “Rohini is much older than me. As a child, I played in her lap. The sacrifice she made is unmatched,” he said, referencing her kidney donation. “I stand fully with my sister. Whoever dares to insult her will face Krishna’s ‘Sudarshan Chakra’,” he warned, invoking the divine weapon to signal his fierce loyalty.
His remarks come amid his own turbulent journey within the RJD. Previously expelled over a controversial Facebook post about his personal life, Tej Pratap has since launched Team Tej Pratap, a parallel political platform, and is announcing candidates ahead of the elections, further complicating the party’s dynamics.

The controversy has handed RJD’s rivals, particularly the Janata Dal (United), fresh ammunition. JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar seized on Acharya’s post, stating, “She has expressed her pain through a tweet. Lalu Yadav, as the family head, must decide who is at fault.” The RJD has remained conspicuously silent, with no official response to Acharya’s post or the ensuing speculation.
As the Yadav family navigates this public fallout, the episode threatens to undermine the RJD’s unity and electoral prospects, casting a shadow over Lalu Yadav’s legacy as a political kingmaker. With elections looming, all eyes are on how the RJD will address this brewing storm within its ranks.
