Ranveer Singh is reportedly set to play a character inspired by Lord Shiva in a cinematic adaptation of Amish Tripathi’s bestselling Shiva Trilogy, beginning with The Immortals of Meluha. According to a report by Pinkvilla, the actor has acquired the rights to the popular mythological series through his production banner, Maa Kasam Film.
The Shiva Trilogy, which includes The Immortals of Meluha and its sequels, follows the journey of a Himalayan warrior who rises to become a legendary figure in the ancient kingdom of Meluha. The books became one of the most commercially successful mythological fiction franchises in India and helped establish Amish Tripathi as a major contemporary author in the genre.
According to the report, Ranveer Singh has partnered with Birla Studios to develop the project as a large-scale cinematic universe spanning three films. The adaptation is reportedly being planned as a long-term franchise with extensive focus on screenplay development, visual world-building and mythological storytelling. Work on the writing process has already begun, while the first film is expected to go on floors in 2028.

A source quoted in the report said that Ranveer had been passionate about bringing the story of Meluha to the big screen for a long time and that the acquisition of rights had taken place recently. The project is said to be in the early stages of development, with the makers aiming to create a visually ambitious adaptation of the novels.
The development marks a major shift in Ranveer Singh’s on-screen image following his recent portrayal of Hamza in the Dhurandhar films. Known for energetic and unconventional performances across genres, the actor is now reportedly moving towards large-scale mythological storytelling, a space that has gained increasing popularity in Indian cinema over the past few years.
Neither Ranveer Singh nor the production teams involved have officially confirmed the project so far. However, the reported adaptation has already generated strong interest among fans of the books and followers of mythological cinema, with expectations building around how the Shiva Trilogy could be translated into a big-budget film franchise.
