Producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah has strongly responded to filmmaker Anurag Kashyap over his criticism of The Kerala Story 2, saying Kashyap has yet to reply to the rebuttal raised by the film’s director.
Speaking to reporters after the Kerala High Court lifted the stay on the film’s release, Shah said he does not wish to comment on Kashyap personally but questioned his silence. “Look, I do not comment on Anurag Ji personally. He has his own opinion,” Shah said. However, he added that director Kamakhya Narayan Singh had already put forward a strong counterpoint that remains unanswered.
“Mere jo digdarshak hai unhone ek bahut acha mudda rakha tha uska jawab abhi tak Anurag ji ke paas se aaya nahi,” Shah said, indicating that Kashyap has not yet responded to Singh’s remarks. Shah also said he expected Kashyap to speak openly and hoped a reply might come in the coming days.

The controversy began after Kashyap reportedly described The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond as “propaganda” while speaking to paparazzi. He also questioned the realism of the film’s controversial beef-eating scene, triggering sharp reactions from the film’s team.
Responding to the criticism, Shah referred to Kashyap’s earlier film That Girl in Yellow Boots, which dealt with a sensitive subject. He questioned whether Kashyap’s comments should be taken seriously in light of that work.
Earlier, Singh had also criticised Kashyap, claiming the filmmaker had become “blind to the truth” shown in the movie. He insisted that every scene in The Kerala Story 2 is based on real incidents and said the team is willing to share its research material if Kashyap wishes to examine it.
Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court division bench lifted the interim stay on the film’s release, clearing the way for The Kerala Story 2 to arrive in theatres. The development comes even as the public exchange between the filmmakers continues to draw attention around the film.
