Sunny Deol’s action drama Border 2 witnessed a noticeable slowdown in its box office performance on Day 12, marking one of the sharpest single-day dips since its release. After a strong opening stretch powered by nostalgia, patriotic themes, and solid initial footfalls, the film’s momentum appears to be tapering as it enters its second week in theatres.
Trade estimates suggest that the film earned significantly less on its twelfth day compared to the previous weekday collections. The drop has been attributed to typical post-weekend fatigue, reduced occupancy in single screens, and growing competition from newer releases that are beginning to draw audiences away. Urban multiplexes, in particular, reported thinner crowds during non-peak shows.
Despite the decline, Border 2 continues to maintain a respectable overall total at the domestic box office. The film benefited from strong advance bookings, positive word-of-mouth among mass audiences, and Sunny Deol’s enduring appeal in action-heavy, patriotic roles. Its opening weekend and first-week collections provided a solid cushion, helping it remain commercially viable even as daily numbers soften.

Industry analysts note that films with strong nationalistic themes often see front-loaded collections, followed by sharper drops once the core audience has been exhausted. While Border 2 managed to hold steady during its first working week, the Day 12 figures indicate that sustained long-term growth may be challenging unless there is a resurgence over the upcoming weekend.
Overseas collections, meanwhile, have remained relatively modest, with the bulk of revenue coming from domestic circuits, particularly in North India. Distributors are now closely watching weekday trends to assess whether the film can stabilise at lower levels rather than continue a downward slide.
Going forward, the performance of Border 2 will largely depend on weekend recoveries and audience retention in smaller centres. While the sharp dip on Day 12 signals a slowdown, the film’s overall box office journey is still considered decent, supported by its early gains and strong appeal among its target audience.
