Singer-composer Palash Muchhal, scheduled to marry cricketer Smriti Mandhana, has been admitted to SVR Hospital in Goregaon, Mumbai, after his health suddenly deteriorated due to extreme emotional stress and exhaustion caused by back-to-back concerts and wedding preparations.
Sources close to the family confirmed that Palash was initially treated at a hospital in Sangli on Monday for viral infection and severe acidity, but his condition required immediate transfer to Mumbai when symptoms worsened, highlighting the intense pressure the young artist has been under in recent weeks.
Palash’s mother Amita revealed that her son was devastated upon learning that Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suffered heart attack-like symptoms and was hospitalised on the day of the wedding. So deep is Palash’s bond with his would-be father-in-law that he himself took the decision to postpone the wedding ceremonies until Mr Mandhana recovers fully.

“He is more attached to uncle than even Smriti is. The moment he heard the news, Palash insisted there would be no pheras until uncle is completely well,” Amita told reporters, adding that the emotional shock triggered uncontrollable crying that lasted hours and led to a sudden collapse.
After the haldi ceremony, Palash was kept indoors to prevent further distress, but the continuous weeping caused his condition to deteriorate sharply. He was rushed to hospital where doctors administered IV fluids, conducted an ECG and other tests — all of which returned normal — yet diagnosed severe stress and advised complete rest and specialised care, prompting the urgent shift to Mumbai for observation.
