Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut’s latest film Bharat Bhagya Vidhata opened to a muted response at the box office, earning around ₹1 crore on its first day across India. The Manoj Tapadia-directed film released alongside other new titles and registered an overall occupancy of about 11 percent, according to industry tracking estimates.
The film reportedly ran across 2,181 shows nationwide on its opening day, including around 301 shows in Delhi-NCR and 171 shows in Mumbai. Despite receiving what some reports described as positive word of mouth, the collection remained modest, reflecting a challenging start in a crowded theatrical release window.
Bharat Bhagya Vidhata also stars Girija Oak, Smita Tambe and Esha Dey, and explores a socially themed narrative. However, the film faced direct box office competition from multiple releases on the same day, which split audience attention across theatres. The timing of its release contributed to a tightly contested opening day for all films involved.

Alongside Kangana Ranaut’s film, Diljit Dosanjh’s Main Vaapas Aaunga collected approximately ₹1.15 crore from over 2,300 shows, while Manoj Bajpayee’s Governor, directed by Chinmay D Mandlekar, earned around ₹90 lakh from 1,427 shows. The competing releases recorded similar occupancy levels, indicating an overall subdued response across the board rather than isolated underperformance.
Industry trackers noted that all three films opened to comparable occupancy figures, hovering around 11 to 15 percent. While Governor showed slightly better occupancy, the overall box office performance across releases suggested limited initial audience turnout, with weekday trends expected to play a crucial role in determining momentum.
The opening-day figures add to Kangana Ranaut’s ongoing wait for a strong box office success. The film’s performance in the coming days will be closely watched by trade analysts to assess whether it can recover through word of mouth or face a prolonged low-collection run in theatres.
