Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has launched its new Reno 15A 5G smartphone in select global markets, with Japan among the first regions to receive the device. Positioned as the successor to the Oppo Reno 13A, the new handset is currently available for pre-order in Japan in multiple colour options and two memory configurations. The launch adds a new mid-premium entrant to Oppo’s Reno series lineup, which continues to focus on camera performance and battery endurance.
The Oppo Reno 15A 5G is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 octa-core processor, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The device runs on Android 16-based ColorOS 16 and supports dual SIM functionality. Oppo has also included a 6.6-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering improved smoothness for gaming and everyday use. The display further supports high brightness levels and Corning Gorilla Glass protection for added durability.
In terms of pricing, the base variant of the Oppo Reno 15A 5G with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at JPY 64,800 (approximately Rs. 38,000). The higher-end variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at JPY 76,800 (around Rs. 45,000). The smartphone is available for pre-order through Oppo’s official Japan online store and comes in Afterglow Pink, Aurora Blue, and Twilight Navy colour options.

The camera system is one of the key highlights of the device, featuring a triple rear setup led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilisation. It is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. On the front, the smartphone carries a 50-megapixel selfie camera capable of recording up to 4K video at 30 frames per second, positioning it strongly for content creators and social media users.
Battery performance is another major focus area, with the Reno 15A 5G housing a large 7,000mAh battery. The device supports 80W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging, aimed at reducing downtime significantly. Oppo claims the phone also offers IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, making it suitable for rugged usage conditions alongside daily performance needs.
Connectivity and additional features include 5G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, USB Type-C, and multiple global navigation systems. The handset also integrates an in-display fingerprint sensor and a full suite of sensors for enhanced usability. With its combination of a large battery, high-refresh-rate display, and advanced camera system, the Reno 15A 5G strengthens Oppo’s push in the competitive mid-range smartphone segment.
