September is expected to be a packed month for smartphone launches, with several major brands preparing new devices across premium, flagship and foldable segments. Apple's iPhone 18 Pro series is likely to be among the biggest launches, while Vivo, Redmi, Xiaomi and Poco are also expected to introduce new models. The upcoming devices are tipped to bring upgrades in cameras, displays, batteries, processors and charging technology, giving consumers several options to consider.
Apple's iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to headline the September launch cycle. Apple is reportedly planning its launch event for September 9, although the company has not officially confirmed the date. The Pro models could feature improved displays and cameras, with some Face ID components potentially moving underneath the screen to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island. The phones are also expected to use Apple's A20 Pro chipset, while variable-aperture camera technology could be introduced, possibly limited to the Pro Max.
The iPhone lineup could also receive a major addition in the form of a book-style foldable, reportedly referred to as the iPhone 18 Fold or iPhone 18 Ultra. The device is expected to feature a large internal display and a slimmer outer screen, potentially positioning it above the iPhone Pro Max as Apple's most expensive smartphone. However, details surrounding its specifications and exact launch timing remain limited. Apple has not officially confirmed the device or its launch plans.

Redmi is also expected to join the September rush with the Note 17 Pro and Note 17 Pro Max. The two models are tipped to launch in India on September 15, following the global debut of the Redmi Note 17 series on August 27. The Note 17 Pro could feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display, a 9,000mAh battery and 67W charging. The Pro Max could reportedly offer an even larger 10,000mAh battery with 100W charging, although prices may increase compared with the previous generation.
Vivo is expected to introduce its X500 series in China during September, with the X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max tipped to focus heavily on photography. The Pro models could feature a Zeiss Super Dynamic main camera using Vivo's BluePrint Guangyu 900 sensor, with the 50-megapixel sensor reportedly offering up to 17EV of dynamic range. The phones are also expected to support advanced video recording, including 4K 240fps slow motion and 4K 120fps HDR video. The X500 Pro Max could additionally feature 3-degree optical image stabilisation.
Xiaomi and Poco are expected to round off the September launch lineup with their own flagship offerings. Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Fold will launch in China during September and become the first device to use the company's Xring O3 chipset. Meanwhile, Poco is reportedly preparing the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra, with leaked specifications suggesting Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processors, up to 16GB of RAM and 100W charging. With major launches spanning premium smartphones, foldables, camera-focused devices and high-battery models, September could become one of the busiest smartphone months of 2026.
