Apple is preparing one of its most significant updates to Siri in years, with plans to completely revamp the digital assistant into a full-fledged artificial intelligence chatbot. According to a Bloomberg News report, the project—internally code-named “Campos”—will deeply integrate into iPhone, iPad, and Mac operating systems, effectively replacing the existing Siri interface with a more conversational and capable AI experience.
The revamp forms a core part of Apple’s broader push to close the gap with rivals like Google, OpenAI, and Microsoft in the rapidly evolving generative AI landscape. Apple’s initial “Apple Intelligence” features, rolled out in 2024, received only mixed reviews, prompting the company to accelerate development of more advanced AI capabilities. This Siri transformation is expected to arrive later in 2026 as a flagship addition to the next major versions of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.
In a key development, Apple recently finalized a partnership with Google to leverage its Gemini large language models to power the enhanced Siri. The Campos chatbot will reportedly run on a premium, customized version of Google’s model—internally referred to as Apple Foundation Models version 11—comparable in performance to the advanced Gemini 3 series. Unlike the current Siri, Campos will support both voice and text-based interactions, offering more natural, context-aware conversations and deeper system integration.

The changes signal Apple’s determination to make Siri competitive in an era dominated by standalone chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini. By embedding this powerful AI directly into its ecosystem, Apple aims to deliver seamless, privacy-focused intelligence that feels native to its devices rather than an add-on experience.
In related news, The Information reported that Apple is separately working on an AI-powered wearable device resembling a pin, featuring cameras, speakers, microphones, and wireless charging. While still in early development, the accessory could potentially launch as soon as 2027, further expanding Apple’s ambitions in AI-driven hardware.
These moves underscore Apple’s renewed focus on catching up in the AI race while maintaining its signature emphasis on privacy and ecosystem integration. No official comment has been provided by Apple on either report.
