Apple is reportedly preparing an ambitious wave of hardware launches to mark the 20th anniversary of the iPhone in 2027, alongside several experimental devices that signal the company’s deeper push into artificial intelligence and wearable computing. According to industry reports, the upcoming product cycle is already in advanced development stages, with Apple testing multiple devices internally, including a redesigned iPhone, next-generation foldable models, and AI-enabled wearables.
At the centre of the reported lineup is a special 20th-anniversary iPhone, which is expected to feature a major redesign with an edge-to-edge display and curved glass wrapping around the sides of the device. The model is said to represent one of the most significant visual changes in the iPhone’s history since the launch of the iPhone X in 2017. The anniversary devices are reportedly being developed under internal codenames and could serve as successors to future Pro-tier iPhone models.
Apple is also said to be working on a second-generation foldable iPhone, expanding its presence in the emerging foldable smartphone segment. While the company has not officially confirmed its foldable plans, reports suggest that the device is already being tested internally as part of Apple’s broader 2027 hardware roadmap. The foldable model is expected to build on lessons learned from earlier prototypes and competitors in the segment.

In addition to smartphones, Apple is reportedly developing AirPods equipped with built-in cameras, designed not for photography but for AI-driven “visual intelligence” features. The feature is expected to support real-time assistance, such as identifying ingredients or suggesting recipes, while also incorporating privacy indicators to alert nearby users when visual processing is active.
The company’s wearable ambitions may extend further, with reports suggesting that Apple is exploring smart glasses and other AI-focused devices. These could potentially compete with offerings from rival tech companies in the augmented reality and wearable AI space. The smart glasses are said to include advanced camera systems and could debut earlier than the 2027 iPhone lineup, although timelines remain uncertain.
Alongside these hardware developments, Apple is reportedly testing the 2027 product ecosystem with its upcoming iOS 28 operating system, internally codenamed “Bell.” The software is expected to support the new wave of devices and AI capabilities, forming the foundation for what could be one of Apple’s most significant product refresh cycles in years.
